Terms of Service
Effective: July 28, 2026
Agreement to these Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and browser s.r.o. ("Sumdown", "we", "us"), Kvacalova 14, 821 08 Bratislava, Slovakia, European Union, governing sumdown.com and the Sumdown application (the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
By using Sumdown, you also agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service.
1. The Service
Sumdown is an independent learning and knowledge-management tool. It can connect selected YouTube sources; periodically synchronize subscriptions, liked videos, and playlists; organize a private library; retrieve available transcripts and comments through a separate provider; generate summaries, previews, topics, recommendations, research articles, chats, and digests; and provide search, timestamps, standard YouTube embeds, and direct links to the original videos. Some features may be automatic after you enable them, and availability varies by source, language, plan, and third-party provider.
Sumdown complements original sources and is not a substitute for viewing them. You should use timestamps and source links to verify context and accuracy. Sumdown is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube or Google.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 16, have legal capacity to enter into these Terms, and be permitted to use the Service under applicable law. You are responsible for accurate account information, the security of your account, and activity performed through it. Notify us promptly at support@sumdown.com if you suspect unauthorized access.
Connecting YouTube authorizes the read-only access described in our Privacy Policy. Disconnecting YouTube or deleting your Sumdown account programmatically revokes Sumdown's Google authorization. You can alternatively remove access through Google Account Permissions. Deleting data in Sumdown does not delete or modify data held by YouTube.
3. Plans, credits, and payments
Sumdown may offer free credits and paid recurring plans. Current prices, credit allowances, and plan features are shown before purchase. Polar acts as merchant of record and processes payment and tax information under its own terms. By purchasing a plan, you authorize recurring charges until cancellation.
You may cancel in account settings. Unless applicable law requires otherwise, cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period and partial periods are not refunded. We may change plans or prices prospectively with reasonable notice.
4. Your content and user-controlled sharing
Your library is private by default. You retain rights in notes, prompts, and other content you provide. You grant Sumdown a limited license to host, process, reproduce, and display that content only as needed to provide and protect the Service.
If you deliberately create a public share link, anyone with that link may view the linked Sumdown-generated summary and source details until the link expires or is removed. You are responsible for deciding whether you have the right to share it. Do not share content that infringes copyright, privacy, confidentiality, or other rights. We may remove a share link or content in response to a valid request, legal obligation, or policy violation.
5. Source material and generated outputs
Videos, audio, channel information, comments, and other source material belong to their respective owners. Sumdown does not claim ownership of third-party source material. Transcripts, summaries, comment summaries, chat answers, topics, and other generated outputs may be incomplete, inaccurate, unavailable, or substantially similar to source material. They are provided for review and navigation, not as authoritative replacements for the original.
No statement in these Terms determines whether a particular output or use is fair use, transformative, licensed, or otherwise legally permitted. Those questions depend on the facts and applicable law. You are responsible for how you use or share an output and should seek professional advice when necessary.
6. Acceptable use
You may use Sumdown for lawful personal learning, research, organization, review, and collaboration. You must not:
- violate law, these Terms, or the YouTube Terms of Service;
- infringe intellectual property, privacy, or other rights;
- publish or commercialize source material or generated outputs without the necessary rights;
- bypass access, plan, credit, rate, or security controls, or use unauthorized scraping or automation against the Service;
- reverse engineer, disrupt, overload, introduce malware into, or gain unauthorized access to the Service;
- use the Service for fraud, impersonation, harassment, or other harmful activity; or
- resell access to the Service without our written permission.
7. Sumdown intellectual property
Sumdown's software, design, branding, and service materials are owned by browser s.r.o. or its licensors and are protected by applicable law. Except for the limited right to use the Service under these Terms, no right or license is granted to you. Feedback may be used to improve the Service without restriction or compensation.
8. Copyright notices
We respect intellectual property rights. To report material that you believe infringes your rights, email support@sumdown.com with identification of the protected work, the material and its location, your contact information, a good-faith statement, and evidence that you are authorized to act. We may request additional information, remove or restrict material, notify the affected user, and address repeat infringement as required by applicable law.
9. Third-party services
The Service depends on third parties, including Google and YouTube, Cloudflare, SocialKit, AI providers, Polar, and email and analytics providers. Their services, data, terms, and availability are outside our control. Your use of a third-party service may be governed by its own terms and privacy policy.
Sumdown's use of information received from Google APIs is described in our Privacy Policy and is subject to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
10. Availability, changes, and termination
We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features, limits, or third-party integrations. We may suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary to address a Terms violation, security risk, legal requirement, nonpayment, or harm to the Service or others. You may stop using the Service, disconnect YouTube, cancel a paid plan, or delete your account at any time, subject to the payment terms above.
11. Disclaimers
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE AND GENERATED OUTPUTS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AVAILABILITY, OR ACCURACY. AI-GENERATED OUTPUTS CAN CONTAIN ERRORS OR OMIT IMPORTANT CONTEXT. SUMDOWN DOES NOT PROVIDE LEGAL, MEDICAL, FINANCIAL, OR OTHER PROFESSIONAL ADVICE.
12. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BROWSER S.R.O. AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR USE. OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING FROM THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US DURING THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR USD 100. NOTHING IN THESE TERMS EXCLUDES LIABILITY THAT CANNOT LEGALLY BE EXCLUDED.
13. Responsibility for claims
To the extent permitted by law, you will be responsible for claims, losses, and reasonable costs arising from your unlawful use of the Service, content you provide or share, or material breach of these Terms. This obligation does not apply to the extent a claim results from Sumdown's own conduct.
14. Governing law and disputes
Before filing a formal dispute, contact support@sumdown.com and allow 30 days for an informal resolution attempt. These Terms are governed by Slovak law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts in Slovakia have jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
15. Changes and general terms
We may update these Terms and will post the revised version with a new effective date. We will provide additional notice for material changes when required. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a merger, reorganization, or transfer of the Service.
